CHARLOTTE, NC—Admitting he was baffled that the seven days without whiskey hadn’t already made him a high-functioning member of society, local one-week sober man Trent Ross told reporters Friday he thought all his problems would have been fixed by now. “It’s been seven days since I had a drink, but I still haven’t gotten a job, started a family, and completely turned my life around,” said Ross, who questioned why he continued to have brain fog and shaking fits when he hadn’t touched a bottle of liquor since last Friday. “I just don’t get it. Seriously, how long does it take fix all the physical, mental, financial, and relationship issues I’ve developed through decades of drinking? I understand that sobriety is a journey, but I didn’t expect my recovery to take this long to hit its stride. My wife is still at her sister’s place, and the court hasn’t removed my restraining order yet. I’m sure, in the worst-case scenario, my life will all get fixed by the end of next week.” Ross also expressed confusion over having to wear an ankle monitor despite having received his one-week AA sobriety chip.
