OKLAHOMA COUNTY, Okla. (KFOR) — It’s a big win for emergency response in Oklahoma County as its new 911 Call Center officially opened up Thursday afternoon with a ribbon-cutting.
The new Oklahoma County 911 Call Center is located inside Metro Technology Center’s Public Safety Academy on the South Bryant Campus, where the school trains first-responders.
It is designed with stations for 16 dispatchers to support countywide emergency communications and dispatching.
Construction for the new call center began in 2021, following Oklahoma City voters’ approval of an $80 million bond issue for Metro Tech.
Students at the academy are given the opportunity to train side-by-side with operators during real-life scenarios, which provides quality career training for first responders of the upcoming generations.
