How did American politics get to the place where Donald Trump’s cult of personality became so strong that the president became comfortable telling a crowd, “I’ve done more for you than your parents?”
Don’t you love farce? Don’s fault, I fear.
And in a rambling 65-minute speech at a General Motors facility in Michigan yesterday, Donald Trump told auto workers exactly that.
He also called Democrats “communists” while declaring 2026 “the single greatest year we’ve ever had as a country.”
Here’s what that “greatest year” looks like:
Gas was $2.96 a gallon in February. Now it’s $4.15 in Michigan.
Grocery prices are higher today than they’ve been in 50 years.
Housing costs keep skyrocketing.
Working Americans can’t save money for retirement, let alone a home.
And Trump still calls affordability a hoax — in a battleground state where auto parts manufacturing lost 4,000 jobs this past year and 7,000 manufacturing jobs overall.
And still he claims to have done more for Michigan workers than their moms and dads.
What a joke. Might as well send in the clowns.
