Epstein survivor Dani Bensky put Todd Blanche on blast, calling out the acting attorney general for being “really condescending” during his long-awaited meeting with the victims of the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
On Thursday, hours after Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., said he would not advance Blanche’s nomination to serve as head of the Justice Department permanently, President Donald Trump’s former personal attorney agreed to sit down with a group of victims and relatives of victims, who have been vocal in their dissatisfaction over how the agency has handled its Epstein investigation.
Bensky told MS NOW’s Alex Witt that based on her interaction with Blanche during that private meeting, she did not believe he was interested in helping survivors get justice.
“I’ve called it a tick-the-box meeting, which is exactly what it felt like,” she said Sunday.
Instead of listening to survivors and their concerns, Blanche was on the defensive, Bensky said.
“I think there were quite a few moments where he would engage us and then say, ‘Well, I never said those things,’ even though we’ve seen on media … and literally, I watched a news clip of it,” she said. “So we would start to talk about that, and then he would want to argue about semantics.”
“He was just really condescending toward us,” she added, calling Blanche’s behavior a “tactic” to evade responsibility.
Despite vocal dissatisfaction from the survivors and their families, Tillis commended Blanche for sitting down with the victims and “doing what all his predecessors over the last two decades never did.” The senator added that he appreciated Blanche’s “willingness to directly engage and listen to them.”
“Why isn’t Senator Tillis seeing what we see?” asked Bensky, who told Witt that she hoped survivors would get the chance to speak to Tillis and his colleagues directly and urge them not to support Blanche’s nomination.
“That meeting was really not any sort of meeting that anything was accomplished in,” she said.
